Daily Tip 16 - Advent Calendar 2025 (Add Achievements to your CV)

Day 16: Lead With Achievements on Your CV — Show Impact, Not Just Experience

One of the most common mistakes people make on their CV is listing responsibilities instead of results. While job duties show what you did, achievements show the impact you made, and that’s what employers really want to see. This is also so true if you are creating your Business Profile for your businesses.

Always be proud of your achievements to that others can be proud too.
Always be proud of your achievements to that others can be proud too.

Your CV or Profile should lead with achievements, not tasks.

Instead of writing:

“Responsible for managing projects.”

Try:

“Led cross-functional projects, delivering on time and improving stakeholder satisfaction.”

Why does this matter?

  • Achievements show value

  • They demonstrate your skills in action

  • They make your CV or Profile stand out

  • They help recruiters and/or clients quickly see your strengths

So a simple structure to follow is: Action + Impact

You don’t need numbers for every achievement because outcomes, improvements and positive changes matter too.

So your challenge today is to:

  1. Choose one CV bullet point or one element of your Business Profile

  2. Rewrite it to focus on what you achieved, not just what you did

  3. Ask yourself: What changed because I was involved?

Remember your CV or Business Profile is your story.

Make sure it reflects the difference you made... Not just the role you held.
