🎄 Day 1 Tip - Advent Calendar 2025 (Small Tasks relieve Overwhelm)

🎄 Day 1: The 60-Second Rule — A Simple Habit to Clear Mental Clutter

The end of 2025 is fast approaching and that can mean a lot of pressure on many of us with unfinished tasks, overflowing inboxes, and the constant sense that there’s always something we should be doing. However, sometimes it is the smallest of actions which can help us clear our mind and start feeling the overwhelm and clutter turn to relief and clarity. So, use the 60-Second Rule to help you feel more calm and collected.

Crossing off Smaller Tasks in a minute can help us relieve overwhelm
Great to start with your To Do and then cross it off as Done in 60 seconds

The idea is simple (Small Tasks relieve Overwhelm)

Look at a task, if it is going to take less than 60 seconds, do it immediately. And yes there are a number of these small tasks which do take a minute. Let's look at some.

  • unsubscribing from an email mailing list

  • replying to a quick email

  • filing a document

  • updating a calendar entry

  • save browser tabs into a favourite folder to read later

  • download your favourite podcast

  • subscribe to a favourite YouTube channel

  • Send a WhatsApp message to a friend to say hello

  • sending a piece of information someone is waiting for.

These tiny tasks are often the ones we delay the most, and ironically, they create the greatest sense of overwhelm when left undone.

By handling them instantly, you:

✨ Clear mental space

✨ Reduce decision fatigue

✨ Prevent small tasks from piling up

✨ Feel more organised and in control

The beauty of the 60-Second Rule is that it builds momentum.

Remember: Small wins spark motivation.

So today, try this:

✔ Pick three tiny tasks you’ve been putting off

✔ Complete them immediately

✔ Notice how much lighter you feel

Give yourself permission to make your life easier — one minute at a time.
